The Waves of Hope Swimathon is Singapore's first charity swimming event for youths to help other youths. Organized by the National University of Singapore Rotaract Club, the event aims to inculcate values of empathy and compassion among youths during their formative years. This year we will be collaborating with Pathlight School to raise awareness of their social cause. Swimming will be the medium through which participants will raise funds for students with autism at Pathlight.
2012 was a year of new beginnings for Singapore when Waves of Hope Swimathon 2012 first took place here, marking Singapore's first ever charity swimathon for the young. Inspired by Swimathon, the world's largest fundraising swimming event held in the United Kingdom since 1986, Waves of Hope Swimathon 2012 aimed to inculcate the same values of empathy and compassion among children. With its motto "For Children, by Children", Waves of Hope Swimathon 2012 attracted a total of 270 swimming participants and raised a total of S$20,710.43 for the Children's Cancer Foundation & Singapore Children's Society.
