Volvo Ocean Race bids
Singapore Adieu!
Singapore's inaugural stop-over on the 34-year-old Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) competition came to an end yesterday (Sunday, 18 Jan), as the teams continued with the fourth leg of the around-the-world voyage to make their way to Qingdao, China.
Delta Lloyd, the Dutch-Irish team that docked first in Singapore during the previous leg, kicked things off at the Sentosa Cove (Singapore) by heading out of the docks first to the starting line.
Biking enthusiasts- seasoned and amateur alike- will be glad to know that there are now four mountain bike trails in town- Bukit Timah, Kent Ridge, Tampines and Pulau Ubin! Max Mager, consultant for DirTraction and a volunteer who designs mountain bike trails, highlighted that these trails are safe and sustainable as the tracks do not turn muddy when it rains.
With all the hype abuzzing around the upcoming inaugural Asian Youth Games (AYG), The Play Times (TPT) is excited to catch hold of the man behind the scene for a quick chat. At the helm of the team at the Singapore Sports Council is Mr Ng Eng Soon, the AYG Project Team Co-Director whose passion for sports knows no boundaries!
The The Play Times (TPT) Team is delighted at the overwhelmingly positive response from the first issue of The Play Times.
To all curious fans and would-be fans out there, we like to thank you for your generous support. With this issue, it is only fitting that we introduce the Team that has been expending immense effort in delivering a thoughtful and relevant e-publication.
Besides myself, our fearsome duo Big Mike and Mad Mark hunt down all the exciting sports events and capture great moments with their 'retro' cameras. Supporting us is a group of sports savvy-but-shy fanatics who choose to remain anonymous behind this great creation!
Having said this, we hope that you continue to enjoy the ride with all the sporty activities lined up in this issue. Let's Play!

* 'Retro' here refers to old and outdated. Big Mike insisted, however, that no matter how old his equipment may be, it is still trusty and never out of style!
