2011 was an exciting year for us. We had three world-class sporting events held on our shores and our athletes put up an amazing performance at both the SEA games as well as the Para games.

As we welcome in the year of the Dragon in 2012, there is something which will get us all excited at home: the Singapore National Games.

Held every two years, the Singapore National games aims to get more people to participate in sports. The national multi-sports competition will pit community teams against one another in 10 sports. It is a festival for friends, neighbours and families to get together.

One individual has been making the headlines: Lim Heem Wei, Singapore's first gymnast to qualify for the summer Olympic. Let us give her our best wishes as she prepares herself for the unknown territory in the history of Sporting Singapore.

On February 13, the Vision 2030 committee will be releasing the preliminary recommendations resulting from the public consultation held last year from July. Be sure to visit www.vision2030.sg to find out more and give your feedback.

Have a prosperous and delightful Year of the Dragon ahead. Live better through sports.
