10 QUESTIONS WITH SCOTT ANG

HE MAY ONLY BE 16 YEARS OLD, BUT SCOTT ANG HAS ALREADY BUILT UP AN IMPRESSIVE TRACK RECORD IN THE TRIATHLON FRATERNITY. THE YOUNG TRIATHLETE HAS RACED IN PLACES AS FAR OFF AS GOLD COAST AND INCHEON.

Meet Scott Ang, 16 year old Triathlete with eyes set on competing at the YOG.

Back home, he is a regular at the annual OSIM Singapore International Triathlon. Without a doubt, Scott has the upcoming August 14 - 26 Youth Olympic Games firmly set in his sights. But first, he would have to qualify by doing well in the upcoming OSIM Triathlon.

In less than 140 days time, Singapore will welcome the world!

Yes, the long wait appears to be coming to an end and in no time, the buzz is expected to hit Singapore as we get ready to blaze the trail.

While the organizers are getting their final touches together, it is also time for the community to get involved in the action.

NEW NATIONAL WATER SAFETY PROGRAMME WITH EMPHASIS ON WATER SKILLS INTRODUCED

A new national water safety programme, SwimSafer, was introduced today, March 17, with the aim of imparting Singaporeans, especially children, with the necessary water safety knowledge and a wide range of water survival skills as a safeguard against drowning.

This year we are introducing a new way to enjoy and meet other Singaporean sports fans like yourself! We now have a dedicated Twitter channel for our featured sports event. Just follow the link to join in the conversation and hear what folks think. You can even Tweet during the event to tell everyone what's happening!

There are so many avenues which the public can be involved and we would like to urge Singaporeans to come forward and be part of the big show.

For a start, perhaps, head down to the East Coast to cheer on Singapore's young triathletes who are trying to qualify for the YOG. The OSIM Singapore International Triathlon 2010 will take place on 10 and 11 April.

This year, I will be participating after taking a year's break due to my toe injuries. Preparation is vital in competing and completing this adrenaline-pumping sporting event. Accompanied by Queen's, Don't Stop Me Now, I have been training over the last couple of months physically and conditioning myself mentally.

The target I set for myself? To complete the race safely and not give up!

Make no mistake. It is Big Mike who you will see "cheong" past the finishing line, in his neon orange SingaporeSports.sg running tee, spanking new black spandex tights and bright yellow shoes. To all participants, have a safe and great triathlon. And to all Singaporeans, let's Blaze the Trail together!
