Students from Mee Toh School cheering on Team Singapore!

There was a definite buzz of excitement in the air at Mee Toh School this morning as the students and staff waited for the arrival of the Guest of Honour, Member of Parliament for Marine Parade GRC, Mr Seah Kian Peng.

Mr Seah, together with Mr Suresh Narayanan, Managing Director of Nestle Singapore and several of the Team Singapore athletes gathered at Mee Toh School today to launch MILO’s latest campaign to support Team Singapore. This campaign aims to present a 25,000-people strong photomontage, capturing the best cheer moments from well wishers.

Mr Seah, accompanied by Mr Suresh Narayanan, Ms Fong Bee Cheng (Principal of Mee Toh School) as well as the Team Singapore athletes were the first to strike poses for the giant photomontage.

MILO, in partnership with image experts Canon will be sending roving “MILO Cheer Ambassadors” armed with cheer toolkits to the schools and streets of Singapore to invite people to spontaneously capture their best cheering moments on camera. MILO seeks to collect at least 25,000 Singaporeans in their most creative and passionate cheer moments from October till 30 November 2009 whereby after which, they will present the montage of pictures to Team Singapore as a farewell gift when they leave for Laos for the 25th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in December.

The campaign aims to rally all Singaporeans to root for Team Singapore athletes when they represent the nation in major games such as the 25th SEA Games as well as the upcoming Youth Olympic Games. This year, MILO has taken a step further to ensure that the cheering culture is much more ubiquitous and spontaneous in the public than before.

Besides the public campaign, MILO is also reaching out to school students through a “Cheer on Team Singapore with MILO” campus contest. To enter, students have to form a group of 10-12, create a 15 second creative catchy cheer for Team Singapore, record and upload it onto Team Singapore’s microsite at www.teamsingapore.com.sg/cheerwithmilo.

Winners from the top five videos will be invited to perform their cheers at the SEA Games Flag Presentation on 9 November 2009. The winning team of the Secondary School Category will stand to travel to the 25th SEA Games in Laos to be part of the MILO cheering contingent for Team Singapore athletes.

So, the next time when you’re out in the streets and chance upon the MILO Cheer Ambassadors, be sure to put on your best game face, cheer your lungs out and of course, smile for the camera!
