Teeing off Barclays Singapore Open 2009 - More Swinging Action from around the World

Sentosa Golf Club’s par-71 The Serapong Golf Course will once again play host to a line-up of star golfers from around the world, from 29 October to 1 November.

This is the first year that "Asia’s Major" will be co-sanctioned by the Asian and European Tours, where players will compete for a share of the US$5 million prize purse.

Famed champions and last year’s runners-up Padraig Harrington from Ireland and South African Ernie Els will return this year, looking to go one better than the previous edition and leverage on their season’s strong performances to date.

Previous editions have attracted world-class players including Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Darren Clarke, K.J. Choi, Angel Cabrera (2007 Champion) and Jeev Milkha Singh (2008 Champion). The full 156 player line-up will be announced over the coming weeks. The announcement will also include a host of local talents who will qualify, through the Asian Tour rankings, amateur invites and a local qualifying tournament which will be held on 25 and 26 October at The Serapong Golf Course.

This year will see the enforcing of a new protocol that will ban spectators from using mobile phones and cameras around the course. There will be a special zone set up in the golf village where emergency calls can be made.
