Residents staying in the North East can now look forward to playing at their very own play-ground when the Sengkang Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC) officially opens at the end of this month.
Sengkang SRC boasts an impressive assortment of facilities, including a community club, five swimming pools, an indoor sports hall, a gymnasium, dance studio and a variety of retail and food outlets. The main feature of this spanking-new facility is the two state-of-the -art hockey pitches. To meet the growth of sports culture here in Singapore, these new facilities are expected to play a major role in local sports development, especially for hockey. Very soon, the Sengkang SRC will be the in place for hockey, and it will undoubtedly serve to raise the standard of the sport among our local community.
Another unique feature of the Sengkang SRC is its combination of a community centre with a sports complex, a first-of-its-kind 2-in-1 concept, which affords convenience to the residents and allows for different sections of the community to integrate through sports and fun. As if all that were not good enough, this piece of modernity has also won the BCA Award 2009, Universal Design Award.
A series of celebratory activities has been lined up to officially open the Sengkang SRC, which will take place on 26 July, from 8 am till 12 pm. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will be the Guest-of-Honour. So, mark down the date on your calendar and come join in the fun-filled activities at the Sengkang SRC.
