World-Class Action at the OCBC Cycle Singapore!
On Sunday, 22 February 2009, Singapore will be staging its newest mass participation cycling event, OCBC Cycle Singapore. Featuring four criterium events, cyclists will be riding for a total prize purse of $100,000.
Event owner and organiser, Spectrum Worldwide has just announced the next wave of riders and four professional teams that will be making their way to the sunny island to compete in this inaugural event.
Professional cycling teams Lampre-NGC, Garmin Chipotle, CSC Saxo Bank and Fuji Servetto will all be sending top cyclists to take part in the Elite Criterium, the final event of the day-long road cycling festival. Competitors and spectators can expect to be treated to some world-class action with renowned riders such as Simone Ponzi from Italy and Cameron Meyer from Australia who are representing these top teams.
Registration for the inaugural OCBC Cycle Singapore is open until 15th February, to participants of all ages and skill levels across distance categories ranging from five (5) km to 50km. The Mighty SaversTM Kids Ride - 5km is open to children from six (6) to 12 years old while The Challenge - 40km and The Super Challenge - 50km (Subject to qualification) is open to expert and intermediate participants aged 16 years and above. Beginners and families who want to participate in OCBC Cycle Singapore can sign up for the Community Ride - 20km. More than 4,000 participants have registered for the event to date!
Regardless of whether or not you are riding in the OCBC Cycle Singapore, everyone is invited to witness and enjoy the event for free!
