The Singapore Slingers unveiled their two new signings last night at the official Slingers’ launch at Marina Bay Sands.
While the core of the team has been retained, the Slingers acquired the services of American Marcus Skinner, a forward, to replace Michael LeBlanc and Filipino Leonidez Avenido, a guard, to fill in for Marcus Ng who has gone back to Australia to attend medical school.
Six national players are currently vying for the three spots left in the 12-man roster as Kyle Jeffers, Al Vergera, Hong Wei Jia, Wong Wei Long, Pathman Matialakan, Desmond Oh and Steven Khoo have filled up the other slots.
As part of their preparation for the new season of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), the Slingers will go head to head with some of the best from the Philippines Basketball Association (PBA) in September at the Singapore Slingers Challenge 2010.
They will be in action at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on the 5th, 13th and 19th of September. They will first play against Rain or Shine before squaring off against Meralco. The Challenge ends with a match against Miguel Beermen.
