Australians Ben Kersten and Alex Malone took top honours in the marquee events of the OCBC Cycle Singapore 2010 on Sunday, March 7.
Kersten beat out 64 other world-class cyclists to win the flagship race of the event, the Professional Criterium, in a time of one-hour and forty-five minutes, while Malone clearly enjoyed the new route through the city as he led from start to finish in the five lap 50-kilometre challenge.
This year saw more than 9000 riders saddle up for the two-day cycling extravaganza, up from the 5000 in 2009.
This success has led to plans of holding the event over a longer period, with plans of a three day Tour de Singapore in the pipeline. However, organisers say the earliest of such an event being staged is within two years due to planning and massive amounts of funding
