Bossaball - A note from Singapore’s Bossaball Coaches
Tuesday, February 26, 2008
A Singaporean Bossaball Player (in red) showing off his aerial skills at the 1st Bossaball World Cup in Turkey.

On 4 April 2009, we received a call from Bossaball International, the world governing body for the sport of Bossaball.

“Team Singapore, you are invited to participate in the 1st Bossaball World Cup in Turkey,” said the organiser.

We were ecstatic!

As a team still in its infancy stage, we were pleasantly surprised and extremelyhonoured for being invited to the world championship.

It was a reward for our hard work in the past one year as we focused on creating an awareness for the sport in Singapore and nurturing a competitive team.

We immediately started selecting players, conducting intensive trainings, making travel arrangements and many others to prepare for the games. And we had to do all these within a month, so it was almost madness.

The 1st Bossaball World Cup was held from the 4to 9 May 2009 and was hosted by WOW Bodrum Resort and WOW Antalya Hotels in Turkey.

The world cup was an insightful one as we watched world class teams compete against one another.

It provided an opportunity to study the game tactics and competitive coaching styles of established bossaball coaches from Brazil, Belgium, Holland and Kuwait and many more.

The first hand exposure has equipped  us with the necessary knowledge, skills and hands-on experience which would be shared with other bossaball coaches in Singapore in the future.

This is in line with our aim to step up the playing field as well as the coaching standard in the sport.

While we did not return with any titles, what we returned with would remain with us forever.
