Cycling fans in Singapore will be treated to world-class action on March 7, as top riders from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and Italy have confirmed their participation to race in the professional criterium for the OCBC Cycle Singapore 2010.
Heading the star-studded line up are Travis Meyer, Malcolm Elliott, and Marco Marzano. 21 year old, Travis Meyer, won the 2008 Tours of Berlin and Wellington and was recently crowned Australian National Road Race Champion. Malcolm Elliott is the former Commonwealth Games champion and British cycling Hall of Famer and Italian Marco Marzano was a double stage winner at the Brixia Tour. Marco also finished second on two stages in the Tour of Spain last year.
Singapore’s very own Junaidi Hashim and Ho Jun Rong, who are racing for team OCBC Cycle Singapore team, will also be pitting their skills against the esteemed line up of champions and stage winners.
The Professional Criterium pits 65 riders against each other over one and a half hours of intensive racing on a two kilometer circuit around the F1 Pit Building. The race also includes three special sprints to find the Schick King of the Sprints. This high-adrenaline event is reserved for cycling professionals and is by invitation only.
