The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) had reached a milestone, as it is officially less than 100 days to go before the Games of the 30th Olympiad kicks off.

On April 18, the British High Commission in Singapore marked the significant moment with a “100 Days to London 2012” event in partnership with Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) at the new London Showcase facilities at the YOG Gallery @ Singapore Sports Museum.

Mr Antony Phillipson, British High Commissioner, and Mr Richard Seow, Chairman of SSC, graced the event.

Team Singapore athletes and Para-athletes, and members from the British community participated in the “Speed, Agility and Coordination,” “Rage Against the Machine” and “King (or Queen) of the Hoop” activities that were lined-up.

Everyone who participated in the activities was a winner as they received gifts from Mr Phillipson and Mr Seow.

Addressing the audience, Mr Phillipson assured everyone that London is ready to welcome the world for the Olympic Games and leave a mark in history.

“You can expect a fantastic show; the greatest on Earth. It’s the first sustainable games that are all built on reclaimed land. It would be the most fantastic experience for all who take part as the Olympic is the pinnacle of sports,” he said.

Mr Seow reaffirms the support that Team Singapore athletes will receive from the SSC. He said: “Last year, we held a camp at London for Team Singapore. We will do the same by Olympics to let them acclimatise to the condition.”

Mr Seow ended his speech by issuing a rallying call for all Singaporeans to support Team Singapore at the games, he said: “All Singaporeans should get behind them and support them to do their best.”
