After spraining her ankle during a warm up netball game in January, there were fears that our two time Asian Games champion Tao Li would miss this year’s World Swimming Championships held on 16 -31 July.
But any fears of her missing this year’s championships were allayed when her coach Barry Prime announced the good news; Tao Li is recovering well and will be on the plane to Shanghai.
Returning to competitive action earlier this month at the National Age-Group Championships, Tao Li has made significant strides in her recovery and would be back resuming full training in no time. As quoted by her coach, she does not need to put her ankle in an ice bucket that often now.
Tao Li has her sights set on the 50m and 100m fly, and aims to bag at least a medal and also to improve on her world ranking.
Though to be in contention for a podium finish, Prime believes that Tao Li has to improve her breathing and lung capacity and plans for a three week altitude training camp in Kunming, China.
