Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) is beyond doubt the hottest property in Singapore sports as they bag another sponsor in Runner’s World Pte Ltd, distributor of ASICS in South East Asia, who signed a three year sponsorship deal valued at about S$200,000 to be the Singapore Table Tennis National Teams’ official “sport shoe sponsor”.
The Singapore Table Tennis National Teams’ sterling performances and elevated profile have attracted a host of new sponsors, especially of the past 12 months, which now totals over S$2.25 million secured over the past year. STTA has in its Women’s Team, the reigning World Team Table Tennis Champions and in Feng Tianwei, the current ITTF Pro Grand Tour Finals winner. Furthermore, STTA will host the 2011 Volkswagen Women’s World Cup from 28 - 30 October 2011 here in Singapore.
This deal comes less than two months after STTA signed sponsorship deals worth a combined value of over S$1 million with 100PLUS and Mitsubshi Electric Asia. This new partnership will include a cash and value-in-kind sponsorship valued at about S$200,000 over three years beginning on 1 April 2011 and will see the men’s and women’s table tennis teams wearing ASICS shoes during official competitions and training sessions.
“We are pleased to be given the opportunity and be chosen as the footwear choice of our national team. The validation of STTA is a big vote of confidence in Asics shoe technologies to aid the national team and enhance their performance during competition,” said Andy Zhao, CEO of Runner’s World Pte Ltd. “We hope that our shoes will play a part in helping Singapore achieve the target of a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics in table tennis which we as Singaporean can be proud of.”
STTA too hopes that they can, through this sponsorship, continue to grow and create new opportunities that will continue to raise the level of their game internationally.
“We are delighted to enter into this major sponsorship agreement with Runner’s World Pte Ltd,” said STTA President Lee Bee Wah. “We are encouraged by the fact that more corporations and organizations are coming forward to support local sports and we are thankful for the support and faith shown by ASICS as we walk together in our sporting journey.”
