Full steam ahead for S-League

After 22 days without S-League matches, the top clubs will be eager to get back into action as they mount a challenge for the League trophy.

Three out of the top four clubs will be in action tonight and they will be hoping to get maximum points though not everyone will be able to do so.

Etoile FC is in second spot in the table with 53 points, just a point behind leader, Tampines Rovers. The French outfit is definitely aiming to overthrow the league leader.

S
tanding in the way of the Stars is Geylang United FC who hopes to minimize the gap between them and the top three. They currently have 40 points from 26 games and lie in fourth spot. Gombak United are just one point behind them and taking home all three points will ensure that they do not get overtaken anytime soon.

In the other S-League match, Woodlands will play hosts to the visiting Protectors.

Home still has a mathematical chance of taking the league this year. They are only four points behind the Stags but they must bring home three points to ensure that they keep up the pressure on Etoile and Tampines.

Cellar dwellers Woodlands are hoping to salvage some of their pride. It is still difficult to see the Rams winning tonight though especially since they have only won three matches all season.

In yesterday’s S-League action, Albirex Niigata narrowly lost out to Gombak United 1-2. In the other match, Balestier Khalsa finally got a victory off the Young Lions. They won 2-0.

Both of tonight’s matches will kick-off simultaneously at 7.45pm.
