LIONSXII PAID THE PRICE FOR SLOPPY DEFENDING AGAINST TERENGGANU


Terengganu put a stop to LionsXII’s three-game unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday in a Malaysian Super League (MSL) fixture.There were two pre-match events before the kick-off, a lion dance to commemorate the Chinese Lunar New Year and the other, a minute of silence was observed to pay tribute to the passing of a former international player, Razali Alias.

 

3rd-QUARTER SURGE PROPELS SLINGERS PAST SLAMMERS


Trailing by as many as 14 points in the third quarter, the Slingers came up big with a 21-3 run in the last 5 minutes of the quarter and lead for the rest of the game, pulling a 74:63 win over the defending champion Chang Thailand Slammers.Four of the Slingers starters scored double figures in the game. Louis Graham had another big double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds and Desmond Oh came up big with 16 points, Donald Dulay and Donald Little both finished with 10.

 

10-MAN LIONSXII CLAIMS MSL MAIDEN WIN

With only one point from their last two fixtures, the LIONSXII finally secured their first win of the 2012 Malaysian Super League season by beating Kuala Lumpur (KL) 2-1 at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night, despite having Safuwan Baharudin red-carded.With the LIONSXII’s players labelling this encounter as a must-win match, the Lions impressed more than 7,000 fans in the stadium by dominating possession and pounding the visitors’ goal right from the start.


 

POOR SHOOTING NIGHT COST SLINGERS AGAINST INDONESIA IN SEASON OPENER

The Singapore Slingers went down 59 - 79 to the Indonesia Warriors in their 2012 AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season opener at the Singapore Indoor Stadium yesterday. Slingers’ point-guard, Desmond Oh was the only Singaporean to the start the game alongside the four new foreign imports - Philippine duo, Donald Dulay & Christoper Canta and American duo Donald Little and Louis Graham.
 
 

LIONSXII DEALT PAINFUL BLOW IN MALAYSIA SUPER LEAGUE OPENER


It was a long awaited return to the Malaysia domestic league for the local football fans and the dream came true yesterday at the Jalan Besar Stadium. However, not all dreams are perfect as the defending Malaysia Super League (MSL) champions Kelantan stole the game with a late game penalty, beating the LIONSXII 2-1.The 7,500-seater stadium was packed full of Singapore football fans donning the red apparels, eagerly waiting for the match to begin.

Westports Malaysia Dragons visited the Singapore Slingers last Friday at the Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) gym for a pre-Asean Basketball League (ABL) season exhibition match.

The facts: Dragons import Tiras Wade scored 21, including a game winning pull up floater at the buzzer, to give Dragons the victory. Dragons’ center Brian Williams finished the game with 24 points and 21 rebounds. Slingers’ forward Louis Graham scored a game-high 27 points.
