Republic Polytechnic (RP) and the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today, 13 May, that will help develop the next generation of sports professionals as well as strengthen industry collaboration. The MOU is the first for both RP and SSC and will help create more opportunities for youth in the sports industry.

Following a perfect weekend with back-to-back victories at the opening round of Formula BMW Pacific 2010, Drivers’ Championship and Rookie Cup leader Richard Bradley of Eurasia Motorsport leads the field of 25 drivers into the next four rounds of the championship.Returning to the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia this weekend, the 18-year-old Singapore-based English race driver is determined to put up another successful showing.

As part of the preparations for the ASEAN Football Championships in December, the Singapore National football team will embark on a 10-day training trip to Serbia in August.
 
The Lions will play three friendlies while in Serbia, taking on the Serbian Olympic team, and Serbian Superliga sides OFK Beograd and Spartak Zlatibor Voda.

At the Jurong West Stadium last night, the Bulls did no justice by losing to visitors Balestier Khalsa 1 - 0 in an S-League encounter. A calm finish from midfielder Nurhilmi Jasni in the 62nd minute was enough to seal the tie, and end the Bull’s unbeaten home record.

Singapore’s Men’s hockey team bounced back from a disappointing defeat on Sunday to beat Hong-Kong 3-1 in their third match at the Robi Asian Games qualifying tournament in Dhaka on Monday, 10 May.
 
It was the Republic’s second win in the seven-team tournament and kept them in the hunt for one of six spots available for November’s Asian Games in Guangzhou. Lim Chiow Chuan’s charges opened their campaign with a comfortable 5-2 win over Thailand on May 7, but were stunned 4-1 by Taiwan in their next game.

Worldwide Olympic Partner Coca-Cola officially became a partner for Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games today.
 
Coca-Cola Singapore General Manager, Mr Antonio Del Rosario and Mr Goh Kee Nguan, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (SYOGOC) both signed the agreement on a reproduction of Coca-Cola’s outdoor advertisement to officiate the partnership.

Defending champion Remy Ong finished in 6th position in the third round of the Kingdom of Bahrain International open, missing the cut to qualify for the stepladder finals and defend his crown.
 
Remy had a smooth start in the third round with a first game of 265, however, he only managed to secure the 6th position after 8 games with a total of 1773 pinfalls and an average of 221.63. Remy won for himself prize money of approximately US$2,910 in the 6th position.
