Obadin Aikhena emerged as the scourge of Etoile FC when his second half winner sent the Stars crashing to their first defeat in all competitions on Wednesday, 7 April, at the Jurong West Stadium.

The ever reliant Bulls defender made no mistake with his shot from a Ridhwan Jamaludin corner three minutes into the second half to give his side a third consecutive home win, and move them up to third, level on points with the team they beat on the night.

Speaking at the launch, Er Lee Bee Wah, Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC and President, STTA, said that IPS was considered an “ideal venue for a zone training centre because it could provide a training hall to accommodate up to 16 table tennis tables, and with the Singapore Sports School next door, there will be a ready source of promising paddlers groomed for entry to the Singapore Sports School.”

Smart thinking by Thai Port’s Kiatcharoen Ruangpan enabled his side to defeat Geylang United 1-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Tuesday, 6 April in an AFC Cup Group H encounter.

Kiatcharoen’s decisive play came after 57 minutes, when substitute Yai Ninwong’s twisting run was halted in the box by Yasir Hanapi. As a preview of the match-up between Balestier Khalsa and Woodlands Wellington in the Great Eastern Yeo’s S-League, this website asked when the Rams will record their first win in the league in the article “If not now, then when?”. Having only scored twice in their last four games, this website was also doubtful over the potency of the Rams’ frontline, especially Moroccan forward Abdelhadi Lakkaad. But last night, at the Toa Payoh Stadium, Woodlands Wellington emerged victorious in a hard-fought 1 - 0 victory, with who else but Lakkaad himself proving to be the difference between the two sides.

The first thing that probably strikes you about Mok Ying Ren is his relaxed and unassuming demeanor. The 22-year-old studies medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Currently in his third year of studies, Mok could probably pass off as just another medical student. Come lunchtime though, you would probably not find him with the rest of his peers. Instead, he would most likely be going on a run around the Kent Ridge campus. That would be his noon-time 'easy run', which mere mortals like us would find extremely hard. That is when you will realise that this guy is different.

The 2007 SEA Games men's triathlon champion keeps a low profile in school. His quiet and easy-going personality gives no hint of the steely resolve within that is at the core of the elite athlete he is. He displays a sense of commitment and focus to his training that only the best possess. Singaporesports.sg met up with the man himself just before one of his training runs around NUS. Here were the 10 questions we posed.

That is the question that Woodlands Wellington’s players will be asking themselves as they go into tonight’s game against Balestier Khalsa. Six games played, three lost, three drawn, none won. That is as miserable as it can get this season for the Rams.
