Race promoter Singapore GP announced on Tuesday, 9 February, that approximately 65,000 three-day general admission tickets for the 2010 FORMULA 1 SINGTEL SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX will be available for sale from 1 March 2010. The tickets will be priced differently across two phases: early bird (1 March to 30 April) and regular (1 May to race week).
 
The 65,000 three-day general admission tickets are in addition to the 10,000 Paddock Club and corporate hospitality suite tickets officially launched on Monday, 8 February. This brings the total initial release to 75,000 pending the launch of single-day Zone 4 walkabout tickets.

With the announcement of the all-new Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2010 on 9 February 2010, the signs of approval among the running community in Singapore have been encouraging.
 
SingaporeSports.sg spoke to the public, runners and several prominent figures in the running community to get their thoughts on the new race.
 
“I think it’s good and it’s what I have been waiting for. We should do a good marathon and for everybody and not only for the elite.’ Steven Lee, former President of running club, MR 25, commented.

Get ready, football fans! A new team is in town and they’re looking to shine in their debut season.
Etoile FC, which means "star" in French, is the first club from Europe to play in the S-League.
The club will be operating on a budget of between S$3 million and S$3.5 million this year and are focused on investing in long-term projects such as a clubhouse and a football academy for local youths to help push Singapore’s football up to the next level.
Presenting their plans to the media for their football stint here, the French outfit vows "to bring sexy football back to the stadiums".

The Youth Olympic Games to be held here later this year will come and go. To leave a legacy, Singapore is taking the extra step of offering scholarships to outstanding young athletes from all over the world.
 
Every Four Years
Those in aquatics, athletics, badminton, football, golf, sailing and table tennis can apply for these government-funded awards to study at the Singapore Sports School for between four and six years. Given out once every four years during the summer YOG, they will benefit six recipients each time. One athlete will be chosen from each of the five continents, and the last spot will go to a Singaporean.

A total of 135 competitors in 21 keel-boats from all over Singapore, including a team from Korea, participated in the 6th Horsburgh Challenge 2010, the most challenging keel-boat event in Singapore, from 5 to 7 February.
 
Organized by the SAF Yacht Club and into its sixth year, this 3-day race event saw a record number of participants, beating last year’s number of 19. The race comprised of a passage race to East Coast on Day 1; a grueling 48-nautical mile passage race to Horsburgh Lighthouse vicinity in full blown North East Monsson conditions on Day 2 and finally, fleet racing along Changi and a prize presentation evening to end Day

Beijing Guo’an Talent and Etoile FC were handed a relatively easy passage in their maiden League Cup when the draw was made on Tuesday, 9 February at Jalan Besar Stadium.
 
Beijing and Etoile, who are making their debut in the S-League were drawn to face perennial S-League strugglers Sengkang Punggol and Balestier Khalsa respectively in the Preliminary Round starting 20 February.
 
Elsewhere, Woodlands Wellington will host Albirex Niigata and 2009 RHB Singapore Cup winners, Geylang United will face an improving Young Lions side.

Over 230 riders took to the line on the morning of 7 February at the Ketam Mountainbike Park for the first installment of the Cyclone Race Series 2010. Blazing hot weather made the track very dry and loose in places, while riders were forced to hydrate more than usual to prevent a premature exit from the race. Events being competed were the Cross Country (XC), Short Track, Super D and Kids races.
Shahrom Abdullah of the Cannasia-Mona Vie-Cannondale team took 1st place for the XC Mens Open category while former Singapore National Champion Junaidi Hashim rode into 2nd place followed by Fraser Morrison, a teammate to the winner, in 3rd.

Runners, gear up for the pinnacle of all running events in Singapore, when the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2010 debuts on Sunday, 5 December 2010. The Marathon will be organised by the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) with Standard Chartered Bank as the title sponsor.

 

Participants who sign up for the new marathon, which will begin registrations in June 2010, can look forward to a brand new and iconic route with the Padang set as the finishing point.

Cycling fans in Singapore will be treated to world-class action on March 7, as top riders from Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and Italy have confirmed their participation to race in the professional criterium for the OCBC Cycle Singapore 2010.
Heading the star-studded line up are Travis Meyer, Malcolm Elliott, and Marco Marzano. 21 year old, Travis Meyer, won the 2008 Tours of Berlin and Wellington and was recently crowned Australian National Road Race Champion. Malcolm Elliott is the former Commonwealth Games champion and British cycling Hall of Famer and Italian Marco Marzano was a double stage winner at the Brixia Tour. Marco also finished second on two stages in the Tour of Spain last year.

Singapore's 2012 Olympic Games aspirants, Roy Tay (26) and Terence Koh (22), took the silver medal in the 470 open category at the Singapore Airlines Sail Auckland Regatta 2010 which concluded yesterday. The duo finished behind Yachting New Zealand Olympic Squad members Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie. Francisco Lardies and Finn Drummond (NZL) finished in third.
